Tea and Strawberries Grandiose

Tea today is Tazo China Green Tea Tips served up with the largest strawberries that I have ever seen in my life, I feel a bit like Alice when she was “small”. Well that is not entirely true about these strawberries, for M’s-Day Gwen bought huge strawberries dipped in white chocolate drizzled with dark chocolate. They looked so pretty and tasted so good, and I am sorry that I didn’t take a picture before I gorged myself on them! These fresh strawberries taste really wonderful (even without the chocolate), with a full amount of sweet summer splendor to them.

This weekend we did a bit more planting. I got a few fun packets of mixed seeds at Target, “Wildflower Garden, Fragrant Garden and Butterfly Garden” seeds. I decided to mix all of the seeds in these packets together, and then plant them in pots that we have around the garden. I will let you know how that goes…

Please join Kimmie our T-time mistress and the rest of the group for a cuppa!

Enjoy- Christen

PS: To all the tea time ladies, sorry that I have been an absen-T, and not visited your blogs as I should have! I have been busy with a few things that are taking up most of my time, such as life and work. I still drop in and peak when I get a chance, and even though I may not leave a comment I am smiling at you and wishing you well!

Tea on Tuesday, May Flowers

may flowersWelcome to tea today all. Today I am sipping a little bit of Raspberry Zinger (my favorite), and reminiscing about Mom’s day. The cup was given to me 28 years ago by my friend Jeri, she gave it to me for my first Mom’s day (which hadn’t actually happened yet because Gwen was born in July), so it was my precursor MDay present!

I wanted to share the gifts that my daughter gave to me for this year’s Mom’s day. The lovely dainty roses were a great surprise, as I dearly had wanted a bush or two! My husband and I always saved our money for the gifts for my husband’s mom, my mom, and our respective grandmother’s and never had extra money for my Mom’s day flowers…. So yeah I have a little lovely bush of my own, , she knows me all to well!

The other great gift she gave me was the antique cast-iron iron, which I always wanted too! She must have been channeling the gift goddess that day, because she was spot-on with my gifts. Of course the best one was just to be with her for the entire day, and we had a lovely time!

First we visited my mom in her apartment, and my DH also the GD (great dad) made us a lovely picnic lunch and even cleaned up after wards. We spent a quiet afternoon looking through her books, old photos and reading short stories that she and I had both written. Then we drove back to our house and spent the evening watching two of my favorite movies: Titanic and The Holiday. What was nice about that is we have seen both movies a gazillion times but because it was a special day no complaints were issued because we had seen the movies a gazillion times! My DH made another great meal and cleaned up after this one too! Great day indeed!

This is the group of flowers that I got for Mom’s day from my guy, with a few tucked in from my father-in-law’s garden.

Flowers were made for moms I think!

Happy day to you, please join Kimmie and the rest of the group for a cuppa! Enjoy your day, Christen

Tea on Tuesday, life is a Rose Garden

tea and rosesGood morning tea time ladies! Today my English Breakfast Tea is in the capable hands of Lord Nelson’s “Briar Rose” tea-cup. Grouped here are a few of the roses I picked this weekend. Today is all about flowers, and gardens and the sweet smell of Spring.

Saturday we walked over to the rose garden in Balboa Park, and I guess we got the planting bug, because that afternoon we went to Home depot and bought some plants. We worked in the garden on Sunday and my guy planted the snapdragons, columbine, wallflowers, impatiens, verbena and cosmos while I tidied up the pots and various outdoor displays. I picked the white roses off a bush that somehow grew taller than me! The yellow rose is from my favorite bush with a sweet scent!

The white roses had a bit of a falling out from their stems, these petals don’t smell as nice as the yellow rose, but I just can’t throw them away, I keep them in a crystal bowl in the bathroom, just because it makes me happy!

This is a picture of a purse that I am working on with a dyed base of lace and silk. I am adding in raised stitch embroidery with pearl cotton and wildflower threads.

This is another project that I am working on (all of these in my spare time don’t ya know!). The top strand of purple flowers was given to me by a friend, her mother had worked the crochet strand. I am not sure how I will attach all of the flowers here, some tatted and some crochet. My mom embroidered the little pin, and I may work this in somehow too.

I thought that I would leave you with these baby buds, and wish you all a wonderful week, and for those of you celebrating being a mom, your mom, or just the lovely spring weather, Happy Day to you! Please join Kimmie and the rest of the “T” group for a cup of conversation.
